Espacio de Estudios Migratorios.

The E.E.M. Project is an initiative from the graduates in “Politics of International Migration”, to create a space of mutual interchange of knowledge, experience and information between academic, professional and migrant networks. Due to the importance of the social aspects of this phenomenon, we seek to compare, enrich and propose ways of understanding and work through plans and politics of integration

NiCHE

Network in Canadian History and the Environment

What is NiCHE?
Understanding today's environment demands a clear understanding of its past. Unless environmental matters are studied in their historical context, there can be no measurement of relative change. NiCHE is a confederation of researchers and educators working at the intersection of nature and history who seek to provide that context. And make it available to fellow researchers, policy makers and the Canadian public.

Climate and Culture is a transdisciplinary research area at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen, a research center affiliated to the Ruhr-University of Bochum, the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Founded in 2008, this research area is the first major research project to focus on the cultural and political consequences of climate change, and it takes a new approach to the analysis of far-reaching processes of social change. Climate and Culture picks up on existing areas of research at KWI, which are also studying factors crucial to the perception of and response to the consequences of climate change, including issues of social responsibility, cultural memory and intercultural differences.

CLICO

Climate Change, Hydro-Conflicts, and Human Security

The CLICO project mobilizes 14 research teams and brings together for the first time some of the world's leading researchers in water resource, vulnerability, and peace and security studies. Eleven cases of areas where droughts or floods pose threats to human security are studied ranging from Niger, Sudan, the Jordan and Nile basins to Cyprus, Italy and the Sinai desert. A large dataset – the first of its kind – of domestic hydro-conflicts in the Mediterranean, Middle East and Sahel will be regressed against climatic, hydrological and socio-economic variables. The resilience of international treaties in the region to deal with climatic variability will be addressed and national and international policies will be evaluated, the aim being the development of a suitable international institutional framework for dealing with the human security implications of hydro-climatic hazards.
